sawadika from Surin!
Hey everyone!
We have completed our first day of 'real missions'. We ran our first kids ministry program today, in a village in the Surin province.

Since we last posted, we have done some very interesting stuff! We travelled to Ubon Ratchathani from Bangkok city on a flight which served us our HOT cup noodles and HOT tea like 2 minutes before landing. We were frantically eating our HOT noodles and drinking our HOT tea while we put our tray tables up for landing. The service was obviously very slow, and when it reached Tham Fuan, Dave & Tong (they were a row behind the girls), the air stewardess refused to serve them as the captain announced we were landing. Very funny story.

When we landed at Ubon, we met up with Mark Lim (our host) and his family (Julia, his wife; Hazel, his daughter; and Neil, his son). They drove us 230 KM to Surin, where we dumped our bags at the Thong Tarin Hotel. We then headed out for dinner (at a restaurant called 'the Bowl'), and were briefed on our next day.

Today, we woke up at 7 AM for an early devotion and prayer time. Then, we headed off for the hotel restaurant for yet another buffet breaky (mmm congee and pineapple). Then, we got ready to drive to a village an hour away.

When we got there, we ran a kids ministry program. We ran games, sang some songs, performed our skit and shared testimonies. The kids were all so polite. The kids had lots of fun, and so did we! Then, we walked around their village (where about 150 of their families lived) and said "Sawadika" to everyone. Then, we went back to Pastor Oh's house for lunch, and boy it was YUMMY =) Then, we got back in the car and headed off.

We arrived at the elephant centre at about 2 PM. We watched an elephant show (where they shot hoops, scored goals and painted pictures!) and then we all rode on elephants (Tham Fuan was scared)! We then headed back to the hotel, and some of us went for a swim, while the rest rested.

We just came back from an awesome dinner where we ate at a local night market. The stalls had all sorts of weird, interesting and yummy food. We had some yummy tom yum and very nice fried chicken. We also ate beetles, grasshoppers, silk worms & grubs. They were yummy (for everyone except JuLee, Ed & Dave)! We walked around the market and bought really yummy deserts (crepes with chocolate and sweet stuff in them, Dave had condensed milk in his!). We then drove back to the hotel where we had a debrief.

Now we're at this Internet cafe paying 15 baht (or 50 cents) for an hour's worth of internet. We thought it'd be great to blog too!

We have a very packed day tomorrow; Ps Tham Fuan preaching in a church near the Cambodian border, running more kids ministries and a prayer and sharing and fellowship time at night with the Surin local believers. So, keep us in your prayers! We might not have time to blog tomorrow, so don't freak out, we're still ALIVE!

We have loaded up some pictures to flickr (as it takes ages to upload it to the blog) so, check them out!!

God Bless, Keep Safe and One Di (Good Day)!

Love, Dave, Ed, Tham Fuan, Danica, JuLee & Tong.

Hey guys, I'm enjoying reading peoples' comments almost as much as I like reading your blog! haha

Anyway, hope the bugs are at bay and hope you're making memories that will last a long long time... Church was good on Sunday, except my (guitar) G-string snapped at the end of the chorus of the second song! Thankfully it was a clean break so I could just keep going... of all the days...

Am praying for you all!
